The Seventies was a decade of Roxy Music era glamour, graphic neons, ethereal hippies, and of course... the catsuit! And while British designers left the catsuit revival to professional Studio 54 goers like Diane von Furstenberg; this London Fashion Week, the decade of color and charisma was used as a point of reference for some of the hottest collections for Fall 2013-14.

From glam-rock, skater inspirations feeding the latex and velvet collection at Felder Felder, to off-the-wall (quite literally) retro prints from Henry Holland and his House of Holland label, and cool bohemia from the Issa woman: London Fashion Week is screaming one message at the fashion crowds... “back to the Seventies we go!”

Few collections have passed us by without gold creeping into the new season’s lookbook. Whether the precious metallic came in the form of glittering disco boots at Vivienne Westwood Red Label, shimmering Vegas-worthy dresses from Julien Macdonald, opulent flecks at L’Wren Scott, or flashes of gold in Mary Katrantzou's strong and seductive new collection; Anna dello Russo’s favorite hue is here to stay for yet another season.

While wearing skirts over trousers may sound to many like a dubious trend, fear not fashion friends, this season the layered language is being delicately translated into a stylish nuance. From light, feminine Kaftans draped over soft leathers in complementary tones at Issa, to influences from the Nineties defining “trousers the new tights” at Mulberry, and luxe street denim boldly highlighting the trend revival at  Marques’ Almeida, we can expect all-round enthusiasm for the millennium style-relapse next Fall.
